Wow. I just looked this page up and noticed I did not post the finished(up to this point) photos. The front is not done.

We plan on adding a four season porch with a stone base. The base will look like the photo posted and a limestone floor. The upper part of the cabin will be our second loft. We have a catwalk built from our loft to the new loft.

My dream stonework photos. This summer we will be talking to our builder about the stonework. We have the stone on our property. We just need to start moving it to our cabin location and pay the labor involved with this project.

More four season porch ideas. I love the look of double screen doors.DH is a wood carver so he can make me the doors.

I would like to have a stone wall at one end and add a Kimberly Stove. Also love the double hung windows in this room. The rest of the decor is not me. It's not rustic enough.

The Kitchen:

The green painted cabinet was a trash day find. It is really old and heavy. It was hand built with square nails. It has milk glass knobs. It didn't look like this when I saved it. I repainted it and added the oak top from Ikea. I got the top for free with cash I got for taking surveys Online!

The portable stove/oven combo is temporary. I don't like it because the temperature is hard to set and it bakes unevenly.

I love my sink. I wanted one with duel drain boards and a deep sink since dishes are done by hand. This sink makes the process easier. I hung a drying rack on the wall by the sink. It is really great for my towels. Since it is near the window things dry quickly.

More Kitchen:

I finally had my pantry built. The side Hoosier cabinet was a trash day find! I will be adding barn doors to the front. I like the style and color of the barn doors in the second photo.

The Hoosier cabinet is still at my city house. I spent some time taking it apart and cleaning and oiling it. All the items you see inside with the exception of the food, flour and sugar mill were purchased at estate sales and thrift stores. The cabinet I got for $250.00 on Craigslist after a five year search and it was five miles from home the entire time!

We have a very similar sink that came with our cabin but did not have a faucet. It probably weighs over 100 lbs! Is your faucet new and if so where did you get it? Beautiful sink!

The faucet is really old. I think as old as the sink. The soap dish is missing. I have attempted to find a replacement soap dish but have not found one.

The sink came from a old camp in NY State. It is a Standard Sanitary mfg.co. Louisville, size 60"X 22",mfg.date of 05/08/1936.The owners of the camp were having the kitchen remodeled and no longer wanted the sink they gave it to the contractors and they in turn brought it home to Ohio and placed it for sale on EBay. Where I found it for appx $225.00. New sinks like this sell for $1200.00!

Outdoor projects.
The shower was built with leftover materals from our cabin. I wanted it open air with a view of the water like the showers we used in Hawaii. It was built with a lot of extra room for a dressing room and outdoor sink. We put the tank on a dolly so it is easy to move.

Getting excited. Going to the cabin soon. So DH and I went to Home Depot for some cabin shopping. Don't you all just love doing that.

Got some stain for our sliding barn doors. I am a garage sale shopper(love them). Last month I found some amazing old handles for the doors. I am in the process of finding reproduction square iron nails.

Photo of the doors we are building:

We just ordered interior log cleaning and sealer from Perma Chink, reproduction square nails from the oldest nail manifactor in the USA for our pantry doors and some vintage zinc mason jar lids for my vintage blue mason jars from EBay. Getting excited to spend some time at our cabin and do some projects!

SWL - thanks for your kind words. There is no roadmap for this type of living other than sites like this and it is so nice to see how people's dreams materialize.

We had a productive time at the cabin. Continued cleaning the interior logs with Perma Chink and applied a clear coat finish. Added a window to the bathroom. Our son built steps to our water tower and a shed. He is building shutters and my barn doors for the pantry. Things are coming together for our retirement and full timing it at the cabin.

Our son emailed us last night.
The weather has broke and the farmer has kiln dried the wood we ordered for our shutters and double barn door pantry.
So it's building time again at the cabin.

I've been getting the pile of collections together and packing them up.
Placed and received the annual order from Perma Chink.
We are ready for some cabin time.
