After a lot of research and crazy ideas I decided to build the cottage life bunkie at our lot this summer. I used a post and pier foundation and made some slight modifications to the design. Here are some pics... DSC_0026.jpg

Sorry, I have never been... I went to a cottage show once and it was pretty good for getting ideas, but the Internet has a lot as well and isn't a 4 hour drive

You did good, You did a lot of things like I do, except I put the siding on before I stand the walls. I'm lazy.

Thanks. Ya I am all alone so standing a wall up that heavy would be hard so I did it afterwards. It took longer, but at least I could lift each sheet...

I know it's too late, but I've used a 12' mast and a light boat winch to raise walls.

Hi Mojo, Nice work! If you built that size in Ontario, you must have done it under the radar (those Bylaws, you know )! Good for you for going after the dream. I considered that one as well a few years ago...always liked the look. I'm up on the Bruce P myself.

Actually it is being built completely legal. I called the building inspector and we already have a shed on our property and I am allowed to rebuild it so long as it is less than 108 square feet... It's our shed!

So it must be grandfathered in, since it's already existing? Good deal!

Yep, it's funny how a completely crappy old shed can make a difference! The thing is falling down. I just explained that it is an eye sore and falling over and he said to go for it! Knock on wood, everything is good.

Nice work!We were thinking the same originally, but couldn't find anything. We just went ahead and built...with the support of our neighbours...we're kinda lucky...no problems yet 4 years later...touch wood. We put in a well and compost outhouse. Our neighbours are more concerned about having "good people" around, then making problems for you. Do you think you'll be able to stay under the radar, once you stay in it on occasional weekends? Is it far enough in the bush?

Ours is not in the bush, but if I look around everyone seems to be building something illegal. Touch wood as well, I hope we don't have any problems. We'll keep a tent open to say that we are staying in that just in case...
