Love your cabin! This is the same design we plan to use when we start building, hopefully very soon. You have done a great job and we are encouraged by seeing a sample similiar to what ours will look like.

Quoting: customrunner tnky03, Thanks for the great coments, any details on your planed build.. We are currently debating on just what to do as far as size. In KY you can only build up to 120 sq. ft. without a permit. We had planned 14x20. We are finding that you even have to have a permit to build a deck! We can't afford septic system and want to do compost toilet, rainwater harvest and gray water recycling. 120 sq. ft. is pretty small for full-time and I'm not even sure we could "stay under their radar" with that. Pretty bummed learning of all the regulations.

I'd like to hear some feed back on the Roxul insulation you're using. From their claims and specs on the material it sounds like the perfect choice for remote cabin use.

You are plugging right along and it sure is looking great! Now that the framing is done and some cabinetry/beds and benches are getting in it gives you a better sense of the space huh? For 16x20 it seems large. How wide is your front half of the cabin? Congratulations on all your hard work! Love seeing the pictures!

trollbridge, Thanks for the kind words the, the front half of the cabin measures 9'x19' 6" finished walls. Also went out today with my little girl and picked up our new cabin fridge (small 18.5"x18.5"x50" but just right for us and uses very little power so should work great with our solar setup) $80 bux on CL I love a good deal

Thanks! I'm always curious how much this stuff ultimately cost cause all the technical stuff is kinda over my head at this point. I guess when we get that far I will pay more attention but for now it kinda goes in one ear and out the other. You will be running your fridge, lights and a water heater I assume. Anything else? And then you just add up approximately what your demands would be and add a little to that?
