Thank You TB. The only wish I have other than finishing the cabin is a few grandchildren while I'm young and healthy enough to enjoy them.

I like the smell of the little grandkids hair.
Yes, I was at Ely today. We finished the shingling, put up chimney and some insulation and trim. I short day, my heart wasn't into it. I'm headed to my cabin in the morning. Just Claudia and I. I suppose you're staying close to home this weekend. Keeping an eye on things.

Silverwaterlady,
I will keep my fingers crossed that the stork will pay a visit soon

Owen,
Sounds like you made progress but I know what you mean about your heart not being into it. Sometimes it is best to walk away for a while. I hope you had a relaxing time at your cabin

We spent the afternoon running errands and seeing Collin. He's so cute-unscrunching. Nobody is getting any rest. The kids say they were deceived... said I made it always look so easy

LOL. maybe it was for you.
I actually met with a guy from the cities who wants me to build him a cabin at Sturgeon Lake, 16 miles from mine. It would be this fall and you know I like to be close to mine in the fall.

That is great news, Owen! I'm happy that you booked it and fall is such a perfect time to work-temperature wise.

Yesterday my daughter and her husband were feeling rather exhausted and overwhelmed. I gave them all my best newborn advice and helped her figure out the breastfeeding and this morning she reported that Collin slept for 6 hours. They were thrilled! It feels so good to know I helped them out and now with the sleep they got they can function a bit better. I hope it continues to go well, but no way around it-taking care of a baby is exhausting! It's nice when your kids finally have an appreciation for what we parents have gone thru! Lol.

A gorgeous day down here, but you should see the layer of pollen in the house. It is everywhere from the windows being opened

Enjoy your picnic!

Had to check back. A thunderstorm came by and put me back inside. Now we are waiting to see if it will clear for the picnic.
Pollen-tell me about it.. The popple fuss is everywhere at our home, not however at our cabin, but we have some tent caterpillars and lots of skeeters as well as some angry beavers who think we shouldn't be able to get to the back forties.

I have been busy with extra babysitting and school getting out, but this week I think things will start to settle down

Sorry Troll, I got the old Bronco instead of the MG. It a convertible though. Are you coming up to your cabin soon, or are you too busy with the kids? It's so wet up here.

We were going to go this past weekend, but decided to stay home. Our daughter and her boyfriend came up From Madison Friday night so Collin and his parents came over, too. We had a really nice time. We wanted to mow at the cabin, but figured it was too wet. It's going to be a jungle by the time we get there! So much rain lately! Even though we were home all weekend I really didn't do a whole lot. Mr.troll cleaned the garage out so that he can park his van. Half was full of furniture and boxes from our two college students. Overall, it was nice having a lazy weekend!

What did you do? Besides buy the bronco, not the MG

Did you mean my daughter with the new baby?

She is doing well. Settling in to being a mom. Her husband is a teacher so they are both home with little Collin right now. I'm sure they will always cherish this time together to grow as a couple and parents.

I, on the other hand, am pooped today! EVERYONE was cranky...all the kids have coughs, including Noelle, and haven't been sleeping very soundly. I need CALGON to take me away...but I can't seem to get my butt off the couch!

Don't feel stupid...I can barely keep things straight! Lol.

I'm just tired because everyone is sick. Noelle is up at night coughing, and yes, well....then I worry about her. All the kids have this deep bronchitis that has them running fevers and having a tough time breathing. My 9 year old was down for the count a full week-literally could hardly get off the couch. She is still recuperating. It is like a hospital here with all the different kids meds. Poor Preston got ear infections, too. They all want to cling to grandma (or mom!). Lol poor things

If I can make it thru today....

I'm sorry for you, but they're so lucky to have you there. Just think how hard it would be for their parents if you couldn't do this. The more kids, the less chance for an all clear. BUT, I know you remember those special times.
I had four here last night for BBQ and fun times. Last weekend I brought the older boys toys home from the cabin. After good fun tearing up the place with their wheelers and cycles, they jumped on my lap and said'' When we going to the cabin''. I guess I'll be hauling the toys back. Kids!

Now I'm great...I feel completely invigorated!! An afternoon thunderstorm to wash my cares away and whalaa..........happy as a little clam

Troll, I am sorry to hear the brood has the lung crud, but this too will pass. Can't imagine being up with a baby all night at my age, heck I hate insomnia at my age!

Back to it today? Is Noelle better then?
I missed cabin building last week, raining. I'm going to Ely today.

hi! Noelle is still coughing-mostly at night. I can hear the crud in her chest when she breathes. She is handling it well though.

She has started eating solids last week. She is doing better at getting some cereal actually in her tummy and she hasn't sprayed me with it yet! She went to town on a chunk of chewy pizza crust the other night and last night she chewed on a half of a half a cinnamon raisin bagel. Nice for teething

How was Ely today? Hope you got a lot accomplished!

KSalz...sounds like you got some great finds for the cabin. I'm glad to see everything falling into place for you!

We got close to finishing. One more wall of knotty pine to do and trim windows. we're going back tomorrow to finish, although we still need to deliver the sauna. We build that at home and haul it up. I wish it was done , so I could make it in one trip.
I sounds to me that Noelle has seen the worst of the cold or what ever it was.

Cabin's done. My son's surgery went well. The rain stopped. I'm spending the morning with the two oldest grandkids. I've got my tractor parts, now I can get rid of the beaver dam. Things look good today! I hope for you too.

Owen, so sorry to hear about your sons accident! I'm glad surgery went well. I hope he has no long term issues

Ely sounds like it is going well. Keep plugging away.

Did you get your tractor fixed and take down the beaver dam? We were at the cabin our pond is still full-no beavers, but frogs everywhere! And tadpoles. My daughter brought 2 home and I think they are dead now...that or they sleep very soundly! Lol. Weather was beautiful....skeeters were like pterodactyls!!!

cabin is done, but you have a sauna to build...so keep plugging away...heehee and you said you got your tractor parts!! trickster!

We went the Pattison State Park and Brighton Beach. Watched the loons on the lake and the loons watched us looneys on the rocks!

Was dreaming about going to get ice cream cones and going to the rose garden, but it just isn't the same in a full size passenger van

funny thing about Duluth...sunny going into the tunnel....haze and clouded over coming out......................what's up with that??!?

camera battery died after Pattison so not many pictures (I forgot the cord to recharge. oops!)

I thought I had all the parts, but alas, I'm missing the two little gears I need the most. They're on back order. I'm building the sauna here at the house and hauling it up. Actually I think I'm going to hire my daughter's boyfriend to work on it while I fix small engines.
Nice of you to come visit, and not tell me. I might have been the one skipping rocks at Brighton Beach.

Next time you come up, go up the shore a little farther to McQuade Safe Harbor. You'll like it. I spent 20 years working on comities to get that project done. I even got a letter of recognition by the governor, not the goofy one we have now.

HMMMMM.....what's at this McQuade Safe Harbor? How much further north and is it marked?

nope, you were not at Brighton Beach....lol, but the few that stick out to me were the couple sunbathing who were extremely pale...and wearing white swimsuits to boot!

The there was the mom yelling at her two kids, who had coats on that they were not allowed to climb anywhere on the rocks...no where....um, isn't that what everybody does there? oh, and they also were not allowed to take off their shoes nor skip rocks! Made me wonder if the poor kids were allowed to even glance out at the water- fear they might hurt their retinas on the glare

Then there was the couple sitting on the bench with the binoculars....not a huge deal til ya don't notice til half way thru the job of breastfeeding lol...awkward!
