Since the cabin faces South, the sun exposure tends to be rather severe, especially in the winter months when the angle is low in the sky. And the porch never had full coverage by the roof. I've wanted to extend the roof, but I couldn't figure out a way to practically make that happen at a reasonable cost. The photo shows my solution to make the porch much more usable w/o creating increased maintenance. I'm pleased with the results.

Looks good
A front porch is so nice when you get there in the rain and it takes some time to get in with yer armloads of stuff.
Great to sit out on of a rainy day with a hot cuppa too.

Looks relaxing. I have a similar overhang, covered in solar panels.

I love a covered porch. I hate decks. Looks great.
