During the lock down I went about the business of setting up a "camp" in my back woods. Just needed a place to get away even though I wasn't going to be able to get away...I'm sure most of you understand. I'm very lucky to live on 110 wooded acres on the CT/MA border. I chose a site as near as possible to the center of the property about 15 minutes walk from the house.

We use the place for family picnics and I tent camp up there at least one night a month straight through the winter. It had always been my intention to eventually close it in.

I started collecting discards from a local place that builds and reconditions cable reels until I had enough for siding and flooring. I also got a couple decent windows from the road side.

I've been at it about 3 weeks now and have spent my first night up there. So glad to be getting this from intention to reality.

Very nice outside finish. If you need some help with that bottle, we'll be right over.

Wha-Hoo, yer rockin it!
Fwiw, we've done much the same since the 'lock down(s)', but our cabin is about 45min away from home. Secluded 9+ac, mostly a square, with a rough sawmill board cabin pretty centrally placed. The insanity hasnt arrived there yet.....dont think it will.

The siding boards are the staves from the inside part of the cable reels. I passed them through a table saw once to put the bevels facing the same way. They overlap slanted to the outside to keep most of the water out but allow some light to come through. I love the way light and shadows play in old barns.

About the bottle....I only have one glass
