Thanks for the complement. No blueprints, as it's basically a large shed. I finished the interior as I went, so no blueprints other than the floor plan I posted previously in this thread. Vince

How did you naill the siding on? I'm getting different versions of haow to nail lteh Adrondack siding on my cabin in Fulton County. Did you hide the nails under the lap or are they exposed having naile on the lower edge just abovethe overlap? Our cabin is coming along 20'x28' with the shell just about done. Interior work is next. When do I get to enjoy this??
Thanks John L

Yeah, love the look of the siding.
Strictly a guess but with boards that wide it would not surprise me to see face nails near the lower edge as well as nails hidden under the overlap.

Hey Vince, Great cabin! New member here. Just bought land and am going to begin building. I love the look of your cabin and am also doing a 16 x 24 small cabin. What are your wall heights, and what is your roof's pitch?
Great job,
Chad

Quoting: Anonymous What are your wall heights, and what is your roof's pitch? Interior wall heights are approximately 8.5 feet. I don't recall the roof pitch, but the exterior height of the gable is approx 6.5 feet. Vince

Quoting: Walnut I welcome any comments/suggestions folks have on these.
I love these floorplans, very practical use of space. I like the idea of open ceilings, but space is important - so I like your compromise around the catwalk. Do you have any design concept of what the exterior would look like?

Hi Vince,
Do you recall the vapor barrier and type of insulation that is in the roof rafters of your cabin? Also what is the stain or finish product that you used? My cabin is five years old with adirondack siding that never did have finish applied. Some graying and discolor.
Not for sure what will be the best prep as some say pressure wash, use a solution of bleach and also try the corn cobb blaster.
Your cabin looks great. The wrap around porch sure adds to cabin

Thanks for the feedback. No vapor barrier on the roof, it's metal roofing directly over the studs. The insulation is standard 6 or 8 inch (I don't recall what size) pink fiberglass. As for the stain, I used Behr semitransparent wood deckstain from Home Depot. The color is "Natural Cedartone". I believe HD also sells a product to renew graying wood if yours is already too dark. Hope that you helps. Vince

Quoting: Lapachee How did you repair and locate the pond leak? In my case, the water drained after the rains stopped and the even though the inlet creek kept running, the water would collect in one spot while the never getting to a high enough level to reach the exit pipe. That spot was obvious. I had a small island in the center, so I hired a neighbor to use the material from the island to dump on the leak area and compact with his backhoe. Ther may be other leaks, but nothing big enough to drain the pond. Some seepage is expected, but as the years have gone by, the pond has "silted-in" and leaks much less.

I built a 18' x 24' cabin with loft and my idea is to go with a 10' x 12' bedroom for me and my other half and a 6' x 10' bathroom which leaves me with a 14' x 18' room for kitchen and living...Please check it out sometime. I love the live edge siding look...
