If we had tried to buy a typical resort property or an acreage close to a city the prices would have been similar to what Just just posted. $60K for a "city" lot at an over used lake with zero privacy, or $130K for 5 acres of bald prairie fully serviced 30 minutes from the city. The latter people of course have to put up a 5000 square foot house to keep up with the neighbours.

With the trend toward mega farms in SK there are a lot of abandoned yard sites of 10 to 30 acres that are being sold as acreages. Some good deals some bad deals to be had.

I think we lucked out and got ahead of a trend that seems to be starting in SK to buy up large parcels of waste/recreational land. Many are being purchased for speculation and future subdivision but there is a group of people, like many on this site, that are getting tired of the resort type holiday cabin and are looking for some real peace and quiet.
