I just discovered this forum after years of looking at land and cabins and plans and everything else.
What inspiration everyone's places are, and thank you so much for sharing them!!
When it was a 'we' situation, the idea was to buy land and self-build, and I've tried to continue that thought after the death of my hubby. But it is a lot to take on, even if I just do a shed-to-cabin conversion, at my age and with the requirement to continue to work, maybe even full-time. Though I've not totally relinquished the idea, buying a place with a habitable and finance-worthy camp/cabin/cottage seems wiser (but not nearly as exhilarating and satisfying!)
This will be my new droolspace More reality here than in the 'tiny house' space.
Ta!

Thank you! I've had to learn that modifying to accommodate reality is not 'giving up'

DRR, OK, how did you do those corners? The logs are even, so you did a butt/pass and added an extension log?
I'm curious?

tmt, I had the cabin built by a company in NW MT. I guess it would be sort of a butt and pass.
They're just "extensions" added on after. I like the look though.

My place in Nova Scotia, Canada. I had been searching for 5 years for a place, it was vacant for 6 years(Family from Germany) before it was put on the market. It's too large for me, not what I wanted but the deal was too good and it's hard to find such secluded lake front property (usually kept in the family).
There's only one other place at the south end of the lake and they are seasonal, 1 month during the summer, a Dutch couple living in the states. Place faces South.

Jeb. Looks like a really cool spot. You've got some work ahead of you but it should be rewarding. Good luck. Looks a little like our old place. A constant battle against the elements.

This place was built in 77...New roof and shingles on now, most of the seals are gone on the windows so maybe this summer I will get the windows in the sunroom replaced. I'm hoping I can live here full time in the next few years. No hydro so I will also have to update all the solar components. There are so many knowledgeable people in these forums, I will be coming to this site for lots of advice.
