Trevoracus , good on you man! Now you can start talking to your neighbors about how too much government is talking away you rights. And you’re paying for it. Anyhow, congratulations. I’m happy for you.

So it has taken most of the summer due to life getting in the way but the little shed that was to house tools has been converted to a make shift bunkie for now.

After losing the entire 2018 to some bylaw issues I seem to almost be back on track. Now I can get back to clearing the land and ready to start to dig to get working on the big place.

Your required to have an electric vehicle charger on the side of your cabin? Are you ever getting power to the property?
And i thought NY was restrictive. My town is so small they only have the county building laws. A shed before the structure was the second thing i asked them. The first was can i build on my site.

It has to be wired for it to be added, so running the appropriate cabling and box to the outside. Like Bushbunkie you have to build it to be connection ready to the grid, even if you plan on doing your own solar/gennie thing.
I tried to get away with the shed before, knowing full well it was a risk. I lost. So I could complain and get all upset or roll with the punches and speed up some planning. Now I just hope I can show some progress before my permits "runs out" (you have a 6 month time window to show progress as per the Ontario Building Code, which means having footings dug and inspected).
Given that I am one guy doing this by myself and not a contractor building a house I may get stuck again and have to renew my permit - so next goal is to continue to clean the land.

Good news....no longer require electrical vehicle hook up with newest building code. With permits....we just keep renewing our electrical and building permits... doesn’t seem to be a problem. Just had my plumbing and insulation inspection finally passed after 4 years...just keep plunking away.

It will be a block foundation.
BB - Thats good news. We will see what the next few months bring for the amount of work I can get done. And might have to bite the bullet and get some extra help to get to a point that the Township considers the process has 'started'.

Progress is slow, but, the old' ship is shaping up. Connected the wires and gave a little home for everything this past weekend. Nice to have the old solar panel and batteries pumping out 12v led lights everywhere.
Managed to get the ceiling done, which I will say I probably should have had another set of hands to help lift things.

Where did you get the wood for the ceiling? It looks great. Did you apply finish yourself or did it come prefinished? My cabin is in Southern Ontario and I've been struggling to find what I want for T&G pine.
Great job!

Thanks!
Its 5/16 t&g from the Home Depot. A bit expensive at $23 for 6 boards (about 8 ft long).

Then we did a 50/50 Ceiling paint water mixture. Brushed on and rubbed off after a minute or so. I do agree it turned out quite nice with not looking too white or too much like plain pine.
The walls we are using the same wood but doing a tinted stain, this time due to the numbers we rolled it on, brushed the T&G sides and then rubbed it off.

Ok. This has taken a few years and a lot of adventures but finally able to get the little bunkie finished.
The next phase of building the actual house which has begun! Thanks to all for the inspiration and help along the way here!
