Welcome neighbor! Great looking area ya picked up and ahhh, the smell of the dogwoods, cedars and buzzard leftovers....
Glad to see others here in the area!
I admit it, I'm a tenderfoot or greenhorn in many ways. I retired way too early so looks like the life style will change but an adventure begins. I bought my place in about 1998, a place built as a weekender that was turned into a house by an old gal who sold it to me. Best part it's water front on Table Rock Lake across from the dam and over the hill at some big water. Being on the south side means it's secluded, like 23 miles to wally world and a great place to get iced or snowed in due to the hills. More later....
I'll be watching your process and welcome again to the Ozarks!

Happy to be near ya Ozarker. I used to fish Table Rock, some good fishing in your area. Your right, once you cross the Kimberling City bridge headed south it loses all of its commercialism.
Our placed is roughly 10-12 miles from a small walmart. 35-40 from a supercenter. We like secluded. We have met some of the neighbors are most of them are nice. One even offer his tractor if we need it.

countryred - Congrats on being a land owner. What a feeling it is. Your property looks really cool and I love that small spring. Makes it something special and set apart. Our land has a gully that runs across it. And though it is only run off water from the rain it give it that something special feel. We had a bad tick problem here early in Texas but it seems to have died off with the over 100 temps. But now we are dealing with scorpions. Yuck! You two looks so cute and happy in that sold sign picture. May your life continue to be so....

After spending a few days clearing brush and trees in June, we decided a bull dozer can do more in a day than we can in several trips.
Our dozer man will be working soon making a path into a road and clearing about an acre for the cabin and shed. After that, a few loads of rock will be brought in .
Our next few projects will be building a fire pit, clearing a trail along the creek and to the spring. planting apple and pear trees , planting blackberries, and cutting lots of firewood.

Good idea on the bulldozer. We had to hire one for our road and cabin site. Here is a before and after at the cabin site.

Is your property near Eminence? We have some property along the Jacks Fork but dont get out there as much as we want to. Having the spring is a huge plus.

EastTN,..We are closer to Mountain View but close to the Jacks Fork. A nearby gravel road get us to the water. Its beautiful country around Eminence, we looked at some property around it, we just had a hard time finding any that was flat enough to build on.
The spring is located on the back of the property but we think we can utilize it for irrigation for a garden and the fruit trees.
Silverwaterlady,.Your place looks great. We had to hire one anyways to level the clearing and road but it will be a big help, and time saver, to use it for the trees and brush.

We are headed back down to our property next weekend. The Dozer man is going to help us clear about and acre and a half for camping and the future cabin. It turned out to be cheaper than trying to chainsaw it all clear by myself. It would take several trips. He can also flatten it out some and make the road.
We plan on going back in March for another work weekend with maybe a little fishing. In late May, we are planning to spend a week camping, building trails, fishing, floating, etc....

Congratulations... I'm about to settle on a property in 2 weeks.
Wondering about your experience with clearing land, and making paths. I've heard of everything from dragging a wooden crate behind a 4x4, to using bush hogs, to bulldozers. What do you recommend?

You can make small trail with hand or chainsaws but I would have a dozer do as much as possible. Mark the areas with orange ribbon or paint and walk the area the driver.
