So this past summer was pretty great. Hanging out with friends all summer. Now that school started and we're starting to get jobs (low paying) we've been talking about building a structure in the woods around our neighborhood. That dream that we wanted to have a clubhouse or place we could go to hang out with others as 6 year olds. But that never happened because our parents we probably a bit too busy. So we decided to put our old dream into a reality and try to build a Log Cabin during the start of spring.
I've considered different structures, such as a tree house and for now, I believe a small cabin is our best deal. I understand it's not simple to build a cabin, But is seems like a project that would be challenging and fun to take part in. I'm not expecting some 2 story cabin with a hotub/bathroom/kitchen or anything fancy.
Since I'm the one in my group of friends who actually plans out/ Thinks about stuff. I've decided to ask the people here in small cabin what are some tips, things we should watch out for and cheap ways to get wood other materials. I'm starting to understand some things such as how the flooring goes and "chinking" (I still barely get why chinking is important)
Think of me as some city kid who knows nothing about building. I need to know EVERYTHING. If you could all help me out this is what i expect to make; Probably 12ft by 20 ft Should fit at least 4 14 year olds (Im not sure if 12ft by 20ft is enough)
For now those are the only qualifications i need. I'm going to be drawing out a plan on how i want the place to be layed out later so you can all tell me if its a good idea or would i need more space etc..
