I may have ask this before; if so forgive. After two days of rain, I went out to the meadow only to find standing water everywhere. As this is the case, can I build there? The county has given me my permit for septic but it must be done at the base of hillside due to getting proper angle to bury fieldbed (?). Slate 18 inches down. I had wanted a crawlspace but would that be best? Should I look elsewhere? This property belongs to my Mom.

When water stands that long it's time to (A) Find a different place or (B) do some serious filling and regrading of the site to ensure the water runs away. Where we are all the meadow area seem to be low and dish/bowl shaped.

MtnDon, I knew you would give me the answer I needed. If I were to regrade, what would that entail? I see French drains and the like? As this is free property, I would like to build here if at all possible.
