Best way to rid is to kill but if not then harrassment works good by shooting at low power in the rear shoulder (one pump of BB rifle) which stings and startles them while not breaking the skin, they will jump straight up the run like hell and have not returned.
Also, remove any and all food and water.

As a kid dad would ship me off to a family friend's dairy farm as cheap labor. Work was a bear and at night there really wasn't much to do. We would go down to the corn crib at night and shoot the rats with our 22s.

Well after a few weeks of doing this one night we are doing the same. We looked behind us from the grassy knoll we were doing this from and several rats had crawl behind us on even higher ground. We were pretty sure they we about to ambush us. We went big time vertical and outta there. Willard

I run large industrial complexes a few of which were turn of the century. no matter what, you got rats. Most effective baits that work are slow acting. Anything that works quick they stop eating. Plus, rats are nibblers. They don't eat an entire anything. Rats are way smarter than mice.

With rats you ony get one chance because they are smart and learn fast...can also recall my younger days plinking rats at the garbage dump, now I like to outsmart them by using their smarts against them, one sting in the ass and they have not returned....I know a lot of people that don't learn that quick!

I wonder if anyone has ever tried using an electric fence charger and a layer of metal mesh that's charged. I would think that it could work... what likes getting zapped ? A solar one and you wouldn't even have to worry much either.

Anyone try that ?
Worth Trying ?? Maybe a good experiment if you already have the stuff needed, or can borrow to test.

Read this:

My province of Alberta is rat free. Why don't other states and provinces work towards that status?

I'm guessing that if I edit I wipe out most post. So forgive the multiple posts please.
