Good ole Mt. Washington. Worst recorded wind. Why would anyone climb up there in the winter?

Because its there.
Friend of mine JH (R.I.P.) was air rescue for 20 years. Boy, he had some stories to tell. Told me some of the bodies they recovered in the winter were like throwing a big ole log down on the floor of the helicopter.
Most of them made a wrong turn somewhere in whiteout conditions and ended up miles off the most popular trails
