I live near the ozarks in southern missouri. In my place I have come across three borer beetles just wandering inside over the last two weeks.

I quickly removed them as I found them.. Should I be worried that they will eat my cabin ?

I believe this species is " Banded Hickory Borer (Knulliana cincta cincta) " The net says they like Hickory but eat any dead wood. We recently cleared my font yard that had a few hickories im wondering if perhaps we made these guys homeless and they are seeking new residence ?

Now, I dont know where they are getting in.. im pretty well sealed up , is there anything I can put out to ward them off ? I dont want my new cabin eaten up by their spawn

as long as the wood in your cabin is dry i would not worry about them..
