Thanks to everyone for stopping by - appreciated.
Montanagirl - that pic was from Buckhorn Ridge Lookout, in northwest Montana.
Dscrick - here is a link to the site. It doesn't cost anything to build an account. To reserve a lookout or cabin though...is a $9 fee for reservation. Then the facility itself shows its cost. Best of luck.

wow.. that is awesome. I tried to look for the listing to see what it costs for a weekend and where they are, but did not know if it was a cabin or what. I'll look more closely later ;)

There are lots to choose from - Idaho, Montana, and Oregon...the main States. I think there is close to 70 towers available. Not sure about the cabins.
Below, is an example on moving your goods and camping gear up four flights - many equipped with some type of pulley system. -And, it is an experience of a life-time, when the big summer storm cells come over. Raising your "stuff" to new heights.

The USFS also rents these out i n my state (Washington) I have been up and in some of them myself. They are around $30 a night and you can reserve them online.
