Spring has sprung and insects are out in full force.
For the wasps I have a $5 sprayer from DG and ajax dish detergent. Any dish liquid with de greaser will work. Not just Dawn.
With this sprayer I can shoot a good stream out or a mist. If you can hit the wasps. It will kill. It also destroy the nest. (Best at nite) Over the past couple days I have killed at least a hundred or more. Beats the heck out of paying stupid money for the canned spray.
Also made some bee traps out of scrap wood and empty water bottles. I did fancy the traps up with a laser burn. It took a day or two for the
traps to start to work, but they do work.
You can find a bunch of videos on you tube on the how to diy.

I'm going to try out those carpenter bee traps this year. In prior years I have used a bad mitten racket.

My go to for wasps has just been a propane torch.

What is the ratio of detergent to water?

Never really measured. I do about a 5 second squirt in that sprayer. Once the water takes on the color of the detergent is usually good as long as you get a few bubbles when you spray it.

The carpenter bee traps work! I didn't build my own but bought them from a guy who made them on the side. I've had to have caught 100+ bees in them over the past 5 years.....

We actually have a store bought trap. Got it on clearance for $10 bucks. But it originally was between $20/$30 bucks.
It's been up since March and has only got 3 bees so far. The one in the pic has only been up a couple weeks maybe. Emptied it once already, and you can see the top layer of bees, plus the sinkers.
