Fall has fallen. The aspen turn is a little late this year. We went out leaf peeping a couple of days ago and though not peak they sure are pretty!

We are back in AZ for a couple of days then flying up to Oregon to meet our new twin great grand baby girls. Peeked at our camera at the cabin this morning only to see just a light dusting of snow, the first for the year. Looked in just a bit ago and it's bright and sunny. We will be back up there the 14th... I'm sure more snow to come. The woodshed is full and my neighbor who is presently stacking a cabin is giving me all the short ends and any logs that have anything wrong with them. I'll be fixed for next year maybe!

Getting leaf turns in your area?

I like your roof steps/ladder. I have similar. Very handy to have.

Thanks! Too many screws and in the roof maybe but it is great for an “older man” to get up there to clean the chimney! I over tightened some screws when I first put them up and had a couple of leaks. Found the culprits then siliconed all the screws for peace of mind. No leaks the last two winters. I just inspected and added new silicone where need a couple of weeks ago.

Old man winter is knocking on our door. The snow line on the mountains has been moving up and down over the last few weeks with the overall trend downward.

The other morning I took the dog out for her morning walk and nearly bit it on the front deck that had a light coating of slushy snow.

We get the Tamaracks around my cabin, they look like a douglas fir tree, but the needles (leaves) are in little tufts and they are soft, turn yellow in October than look like a dead tree all winter. The Tamarack is also known as the Western Larch here.
I have ONE Tamarack on my 40.52 acres.

Originally from Eastern Oregon so know Western Larch... we called them Tamarack as well unless around our forester friend!

We are back in Eastern Oregon to see our twin great grand daughters right now. The leaves are really turning at the cabin this week. We are definitely missing the peak of the turn.

We have a tamarack swamp behind us to the W, here in south central WI they havent turned yet, and the rest of the color is only in the early stage. I do really like the tamaracks, to me they are a 'gentle tree' and the setting sun coming through the gold with the contrast of the lower red sumac is a treat.

I like them too, but don't have any on my cabin land.... but we did get some sumac popping up in the last couple years! I also got a cabin cam recently, and some internet. Nice to be able to check on it!

You can see the sumac on the right...turning yellow on the bottom half first, and now maybe the very bottom is turning red?

The roof is white. Our lakes will be frozen over by the end of the month
