Well not too colorful but once a year my ground turns from dusty dirt to a nice bed of redwood duff for a short period before the rains come and compost it.
I really like it, soft enough to lay on, nothing prickly, doesn't blow around nor need raking. My cabin deck and paved parking area also get the stuff but it blows right away. 20220929_184523.jpg

We are up in Idaho for a wedding. Pulled up our camera to see the colors we are missing.

South central WI, just had the 'killing frost' in low areas a few days ago. Sun is coming up way too late and going down way too early, and we arent even close to the 'time change' (hate it!). The dogwoods and sumac are turning red fast, some maples are at 30ish %, oaks not yet, poplars (kinda our mid-west 'aspens') going to yellow gold. Another week and we will be well into it.
