bldginsp >>>>> Impressive photo! I have witnessed them a few years back. They generally mating/ritual in the same place each year. I forgot to go check that out but will soon to see if I can capture the event. Thanks

You're welcome neb. These were taken by my sister, a confirmed birder, on an Audubon Society sponsored field trip somewhere just outside of Susanville, CA. The grouse only do this mating ritual stuff once a year for a short time in the spring. It's called a 'lek', which is a gathering of males and females. The males strut around puffing out their chests and the females play coy. Wish I had been there but a knee injury kept me home.

I had a couple of fisher pictures on my camera this week. Not something that I would expect to see often.

I have picked up a doe around the cabin for a few weeks now. I finally saw why she was around and what she was up to.

I've been gone for a while....
Here is a vid of animals on my cabin property. I decided to put the cameras right up next to my cabin (rather than the usual placement in the woods). Enjoy

OK... I ended up making another video on Fishers (aka Fisher Cats) that I've seen at my cabin. I know a lot of people don't like fishers, but I think they are pretty cool and they certainly have not hurt the turkey population.

Hope you enjoy it. I know I like seeing your pics and vids too.

Some other pictures from last weekend. We've seen lots of other wildlife that I couldn't get good pictures of. We had a wolf lying on the ice in front of our property in March and watched two otters run across the ice the next day. One just running and the other sliding every second step. I want to get a trail camera set up and see who visits when we're not there. We see a lot of moose tracks and other tracks all around the bunkie. Pictures are of a blue spotted salamander tadpole, a large parasitic wasp, a brand new toad, and a monarch butterfly. P7050557.JPG
