I'm going to build a small shed, 5x9, to house my generator, air compressor, maybe a battery bank. I know I'll provisions for exhaust, wiring...
Beyond that, any other considerations you guys have come across?

Be sure there is a good air flow for cooling air. At my old place I had a power shed that used a steel mesh security door and a couple of good size roof vents.

Someone had built a genie shed here a few years back and he installed an exhaust fan that he simply hooked into his genie. Every time the genie went, so did the fan. I thought it was a smart idea.

I had built a 4x6 shed for our generator on our property. Theres pics in the build thread area. It turns out that its filled with alot more stuff than just a generator and a few tools I have to basically unpack the thing to even use the generator.
My doors are in the 4ft wall. This makes the thing like a hallway and a pain to use something from the back. If you leave the doors open theres not much need for a vent system.

Yes. For my house genny I put an extension on the exhaust pipe. So it exhausts a foot or so out. Then reinstalled the muffler. To do this l unbolted the muffler traced out the flange to engine from the muffler on some 1/8" flat steel. Make 2. Weld one flange to a foot long or your choice of 1" black steel pipe. Weld other to a 1"pipe coupler. Attached flange n muffler to engine n slide it up to wall , mark location of hole . I used a piece of 8"or so flashing metal. To separate pipe from wood n make hole in wall a few inch larger
Slide through hole put flashing over pipe n secure screw on the muffler.

I built a 8x8 building with shed roof, put a fan in the bottom corner, aligned with exhaust output on genny. When I fire up genny, I plug in fan, it is designed to suck air out of a much larger building. It had three speeds and chain pull start stop and louvers on it when off. I have learned to leave the door cracked a bit, it helps airflow.....so far works great

When I bought my cabin there was an outhouse that was in perfect condition. They had added a well, septic, etc. to the cabin so no use for the outhouse. I made that into the genny shed. I cut an opening on the side of the exhaust hung a box fan over that and a smaller one on the other side to pull fresh air in. Plugged the fan into the genny. Any time the generator was on the fan was on blowing the exhaust out and away from the cabin. Didn't cost me much to do other than the mesh for the openings. I cut a hing for the cover I put over the large opening for when we were not there and some scrape wood for the floor.
