My wife and I have been talking about the future a bit. Are there options that folks use for propane off grid? Or do all those type systems require electric? We were thinking that turning on heat from a propane heater may be easier for her if she ventures out to the cabin by herself? Then maintain the heated one room cabin through the wood stove. I already have three 100 lb tanks out there for stove and lights.

There are direct vent propane heaters that don't need electricity.

This style has more heat capacity and vents straight up through the roof, generally.
There's also the more self-contained through the wall style: https://www.williamscomfortprod.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/L1109-DIRECT-VENT-FURN ACES-12-2018.pdf
Both are available with standing pilots and thermostats that don't need electricity.

I suppose options like ice house heaters but more BTU, I would for sure kill the pilot light when not there.....waste of gas and just feel safer/better with it not on! Thanks Nate for that idea
