Im needing one to several water hand pumps for my shallow well projects.
I know I can buy cheap chinese pump but I dont want that, Id rather buy something old that is rebuildable I.E Im assuming worst case hone the cylinder a bit and replace a gasket/seal.
What should I be specifically looking for when shopping e-bay.
Was there one manuf. that built a better pump, are there pumps I need to stay clear of cause parts are simple unavailable?
Any suggestions on where you have found various sized seals would be a bonus.
Thanks
Something like this (...broken link...) is a possibility I suppose since I do recognize manufacturers name.
It would be nice to find one with a stainless steel sleeve already in it so I dont have to deal with any honing and risking the chance of oversizing and losing the vacuum

Buy the cheap Chinese pump. They are as good as the others. I have both and the newer and the old ones and the gaskets fit both very nicely. Every once in a while, take the things apart so they do not rust together. Use vegetable oil on the innerds and motor oil on any outside bolts, nuts.

No financial connection, and I love this store here in Ohio, they do have made in USA hand pumps, $$$. Also everything else for small cabin life!

A few years ago I replaced a pump in a deep well at our camp. I found a used (probably ~100 years old) cast iron pump head on ebay (ours was cracked) and bought a new brass pump cylinder from I forget where. I also replaced the pipe, 60' of it (what a job it was getting that out!).

During a search of my own for a pump, I found some of the Chinese pumps are not approved for drinking water (lead?) Tractor Supply was one according to the review.
It would be neat to mount on the kitchen counter so the water pumped into the sink.
