Looking for some help.I have a small cabin in Northern Ontario and jut purchased a little portable Martin Butane oven. It says not to use indoors but I'm wondering if this is really true because at the local sushi restaurant, they use propane burners to cook stuff at the table. Is this just over cautious? We would have it right beside a window as well for additional ventilation. Thanks for any advice folks can provide.

Well, I found this site on butane stove safety.

In all instances, make sure you have a carbon monoxide detector.

Thankyou for your response. This is a good reference and helps me understand the rationale. I do not currently have a carbon monoxide detector, but I have put it on my list for next month. Thanks for the reminder!!!

I have a butane oven built just like yours but a different brand (can't remember which one right now.) Ours also says for outdoor use only, but we use it indoors all the time. We do have a carbon monoxide detector, 2 of them actually, and these have never gone off. We also use our butane burners inside. It's a risk I guess I'm willing to take.

Thankyou. We've used a hanging butane lantern inside for several years and I've honestly never even thought about it until buying this oven. But I'm sure getting a battery-operated CO detector!
