...has replaced my favorite Honda EU2000i. Same price, everything, just 200 more watts. It does have a fuel shut off that allows the engine to run to clear carb of fuel. Yamaha has always used this as an advantage to Honda they claimed. But its really not an advantage, the engine will quit when carb is half full. For long term storage, the carb has a neat bowl drain screw. Drain bowl is all after its off. 60 second task.

Interesting!

If that was an option a couple years ago when I bought, I would've gone for it. Those extra 200 watts WOULD come in handy for certain power tools in my case. I ended up going with a Kohler 2.0is, a similar 2000w suitcase-style generator.

Looks like Honda went with a 20% bigger engine (121cc instead of 99) to get more power. Eats a bit more fuel. Interesting way to revamp it.

Ya think Honda will ever come out with a tri-fuel generator? OR have they already and Ive missed it?

the only pet peeve I have with Honda, and most gennys, is the oil plug location
you can see it
feel it
just can't quite get it off/on with ease
nor empty the old oil without spillage

I did fashion something out of a half gal milk jug to keep spillage to a minimum

Gary, that was actually one of the other improvements they did was just what you speak of. I just take mine and tip it upside down to pour out the oil (carb bowl drains, fuel shut off and cap vent off) but they did extend it with a nice little ramp, so it makes your trick work without the milk jug.
These are superior little units. Brings lots of comfort to the wild areas.

Here is the improvements:

A bigger oil filler opening, a longer spout and larger oil drain gutter make for easier and cleaner oil changes.

A fuel shutoff valve (“fuel off” position) allows the engine to continue to run until the majority of the fuel in the carburetor is consumed and the engine shuts off, which helps prevent stale fuel issues and is useful for storing the generator.

A stamped metal recoil rope insert designed to provide increased product durability and reduce potential damage to the generator body.

An increase in the ventilation area of 2.31 sq. in. compared with the outgoing model reduces cabinet air intake resistance, resulting in improved inverter cooling, Honda said. The addition of new ducts allows for the air to move more evenly over internal parts while improving the overall air flow for better cooling of key components.

The stator/rotor configuration of the EU2200i is improved. The new magnets, responsible for producing electricity, are thinner, keeping the diameter of the stator unchanged, reducing the weight of the component and providing more power output, Honda said.

Operational contact points are color-coded in gray, and guide the user through the starting operation.

I wonder if they cut prices on the 2000 prior to releasing the 2200.

Less run time with the larger engine.

"a run time of 3.2 to 8.1 hours on a single 0.95 gallon
tank, depending on the generator load"

There was a discussion in this forum about a GFCI outlet, the Honda EB2000i/EB2200i

The all new Honda EB2200i was designed for the industrial user and
meets LA-ETL and OSHA requirements.

Based on the new EU2200i generator, the EB2200i
deletes the 20A 125V Duplex outlet, DC charging and
Parallel outlets for a 20A 125V GFCI Duplex outlet GFCI neutral bond

How much does the vapor carb (propane/natural gas) run for an engine of that size?

Less than 150 bucks? then get the kit and do it yourself, or get the kit and a six pack, and get creatively friendly with some mechanics around town.

As far as being "tri fuel" I don't really get it. Natural gas is petroleum gas is gaseous gas, and gasoline is ethanol is liqueous liquid.

It's not like a furnace, stove, or generator built for natural gas won't run on propane, or vice versa, but the mixture might be off, or it might not put out the same power on one or the other (per pound, propane runs hotter, so you tweak your flow rates to make everything not cook crappy).

There's always salvage options as well - there's plenty of propane-powered golf carts and forklifts. Check some displacements and get a generator that runs about the same?

I ended up with one of the eu2200i gens this summer. I needed something to run a small window AC unti in my 4runner for travel with the dog when stopping or if I broke down. It wouldnt quite run the small 5000 btu AC unit on eco mode, but with the addition of a hard start capacitor plugged into it ($12 locally) it runs fine on eco mode so the fuel lasts much longer and it isnt as loud. It rides in a cargo box on a hitch mounted carrier, the AC unit in the side window of the 4runner. Makes summer travel with the dog less stressful for everyone. Ive just been using ethanol free gas. Its pricey, but I dont need much. Supposedly easier on the carb to store longer without problems.

Can take the dog when running around town when its hot out, leave her in the truck with the AC set on 66 and shes cool as can be when i come back out. Have run it up to 3 hours at a time testing and its been fine.

The RV and boat forums had this stuff figured out. I just looked for the exact model capacitor and called around and found one. The link above shows the correct one. Supco SPP6. It plugs onto the capacitor in the AC piggybacked on the existing one. I zip tied it to the side of the AC case.

I also replace my honda eu2000i as there is some problem.

I have taken this carburetor apart and cleaned it very well. I have always kept good fuel in the generator and now I get this problem where the generator surges at high RPM without a load. I can not seem to figure it out. The fuel is good, the card is clean. The throttle motor pushes up and down. I can hold the throttle in place with a screwdriver and it runs better but it will not allow the system to deliver power. If i disconnect the throttle motor, it runs beautifully, allowing me to plug in a hair dryer and runs with a load. But obvoisly that is not a desirable state. Is this a throttle motor issue or something electronic with the board?

shelley, you are so full of poo, your eyes are brown.
You are just peddling diesel generators Why don't you get one from the link and tell us how it works and stop pretending you own a Honda EU2200i because I know you don't. They don't give trouble. Quiet, unlike a noisy diesel. I bet those Chinese diesels parts are made out of unobtainium too.
I think you just need to remove the gas cap, replace part under cap, reinstall cap and report back on how it runs.

You mean, the 2200 KW, 3,600 amps Cummins powered isnt right for your cabin?

Oh, and its 50Hz, wont even work here. Burn everything up you plug into it.
