Although I'm living off grid, I lack for nothing.Trial and error has led to many improvements. You can have the best of both worlds and be quite comfortable. 20180208_12.50.04..jpg

Nice setup, looks very comfortable. 'Would love to know your experience cooking & baking with that vintage wood stove. Such as, how tough is it to hold a certain oven heat long enough to say bake a cake?

Hi lisa,I had that dreaded tough decision between keeping the horses and stay working or find them a new home so I could retire early.i'my saddened to say the retiring early won out.I've sold all my horse related stuff. I do like the freedom that comes with this retirement though!I have just a few easy keeper chickens left.

Hi drb, cooking on the wood stove is tough.Frying up meats isn't so bad but trying to boil something is not doable. The oven is good for slow cooked dishes like roasts or stews but breads and pies, forget it,it' either underbaked or burnt! Lol.I use it mostly for heating.I don't use the hot water resivor.

Hello just.I've got 8-15 watt solar panels out on the barn to keep my batteries up.works pretty good in the summer time but in the winter, there are pretty limited.I run all my lighting, tablet charger, cell phone charger, water pump, controls on the refrigerator, small fan and cpap machine on 12 volt, everything else on the Honda eu2000i generator.if I want to run the treadmill, air conditioner,TV set, printer, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, washing machine or power up the outerbuildings,I have to fire up the genny.

Howdy, seohio,it sure does.it don't want to ever move it again as long as I live, lol.I can't believe I wanted one of these stoves about 40 years ago but they were way,way to expensive for me.I found this one advertised on the Internet for $700.00'I couldn't resist!

I still remember your fireplace build. Great work that. I'm at 8 years off grid this year too. Boy. May 2010. What a great ride.
