Hi All, I’m part of a team participating in the National Science Foundation Innovation Corps – a program helping scientist take their innovations out of the lab and into the market. We think the technology our team is developing may offer a lot of value to folks living off-grid, especially in more Northerly climes, and we’re trying to better understand the pressing needs and interests of this community.
Would any members of this community be available for a 15 minute phone call to help us understand the challenges of making your own power and whether what we are working on might make life easier.
Please comment below if you’d be willing to help and I’ll contact you privately to schedule a call.
Many thanks,
Adam

Thanks Nate, I'd like one of my colleagues on the line too, so let me check their schedule and I'll get in touch with some proposals for time slots that might work. Thanks

Nate, looks like this forum won't let me message you privately. To make scheduling more efficient and avoid putting phone number on public forums, you can pick any time that works for you on this Calendly link, enter your number and I'll call you.

Actually anyone else on this forum who is willing to help with a quick call can use this link for scheduling too.
Thanks

Hi @DaveBell and @creeky,
Glad to clarify. I cofounded Alphabet Energy and worked there for 8 years before leaving this past June. I'm now advising a number of early stage technology start ups. In this case, Spark Thermionics and they are participants in the NSF I-Corp program. The technologies have certain similarities, but Alphabet Energy and Spark are unrelated and pursuing very different applications. If my background is important then you can check out my LinkedIn profile here www.linkedin.com/in/adam-lorimer-9557393
Spark is not yet selling a product, but rather deciding which application of their technology to pursue. Developing new energy technologies is a slow and expensive process (this is no smart phone app), so we believe it's a good idea to actually talk to potential users rather than assume we understand their needs. This can avoid spending years and millions of dollars developing a product nobody wants. Seems kind of obvious when you put it that way!
We learned a lot from the folks we've spoken already and really appreciate you all taking time to talk to us. I'm hoping we can gather a few more perspectives this week.
Hope that helps clarify, Adam
