Hi all, I just bought a cabin in the NF and it has an outhouse. It is on volcanic rock so digging another pit is going to be a problem.
My question , how can I extend the life of the thing? I am using a strict no TP rule. Can I put more water in to dilute some of the solids ? If what I think is true and they built it on or in lava rock shouldn't that work like a seepage pit?

Why not compost? Use a sawdust style composting toilet.

Clean it out in the spring after it has a winter to "mature". Put the contents in a secondary compost area where it can break down naturally. The lava should provide a good seepage area for the human lava.

You could call a vac truck to pump it out.

I know of very few problems that cannot be solved with a suitable amount of high explosives.
