It was several years ago that i got my LUP (Land Use Permit) just south of Chapleau, Ontario and while we are very happy being off-grid when we're up there, one thing we missed was knowing what was happening especially with respect to the weather in the winter and driving home. Some wonderful person on this forum told me to purchase a Crane radio (I don't know who!!!) and I did so. This last week we were really thankful to have that radio with a major storm arriviing. The radio is absolutely unbelievable in how far we pick up signal - can get CBC all the way from Sudbury! We don't even have an external antenna. So my sincere thanks to the person who recommended a Crane. It's the ONLY one that will work up there. So thankyou!!!

I bought this one off Ebay but the Bluetooth version which is great for streaming music from your phone/tablet.
