I was thinking about having a small, low powered light (maybe some sort of night light type) that I could plug in to an AC outlet. It would be "ON" when the inverter is powered up. I want to turn the inverter off when not at the cabin. This would help me remember to turn the inverter off, just be seeing whether the light is on or off. Any ideas would be appreciated. Bret

For 5 bones, you could use it at the cabin and then put it in the truck to have everywhere else.

Bret, if you have a Light Switch by your door, why not just install a Lighted Switch ? Something along the lines of this below. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Leviton-Decora-15-Amp-Illuminated-Switch-White-R72-05611-2 WS/202035002
There are different types, stay lit always, only when switch is off, only when switch is on. I would assume you would be turning everything off anyways, so with the switch "off", it would be lit if power was there.
Or you can go this way which looks like something I will get ! (just found it) http://www.treehugger.com/gadgets/led-night-light-outlet-covers-install-minutes-use-j ust-5-cents-power-year.html

Just replace your outlet - similar to what Steve posted. My Mom has a couple of these in a dark hallway in the interior of her home, and they light it up perfectly. The bulb is an LED, so any power used by the light would be minimal.
Because it has a light sensor in it, that could probably be taped off so that it is fooled into always believing it's in the dark, thus, always lit.

This might work better - it appears you can selectively set whether you want it on fulltime or using the sensor.
Just search for "Guide Lights"

LED nightlight. Lots available. Some use less power than the standby of an inverter.
Some inverters have wired remotes available. With a powered indicator.

Some really good ideas. Thanks. I like the snappower lighted outlet BUT it has a light sensor so would only be on at night. I'll look for a LED night light with no sensor. The inverter does have a small power light that is difficult to see. I quess I'm looking for something simple to plug in an outlet. Again, thanks for all the ideas.

Make it easy. Black tape works to block a sensor.
