So I've got a cabin sitting on ledge/rock. There are some areas where I might have a few feet of soil. I want to get a ground rod in place for a few solar panels. Any thoughts .... Could I maybe get away with a few pieces of rod sunk, then tied together (3x 3') ? Or maybe a vertical trench with the rod buried the best I can?
I might be able to properly sink a rod some distance from the cabin, not sure how far I might be able to place this.
Thanks for any help you can share.

Might as well add a picture of the cabin in question. This is a kit from jamaicacottageshop. The woman in charge helped me put it together about three years ago. (I'll try to get more pictures posted in the appropriate area.)
Thanks again for any thoughts for properly grounding in solid rock, and greetings from Philly.

A vertical trench might be hard to dig, Maybe I should try a horizontal one instead.

Code wants 8' deep, but I imagine anythings better than nothing. A few 3 footers bonded together should be ok. Or a jackhammer/core drill and see how deep you can get?

2 rods in trenches 18" deep, 10 feet+ apart, connected by an uninterrupted piece of #4 bare copper would be more than adequate

This turned out to be easier than I thought it would be. I went in at a slight angle - running just above the ledge. (The photo here is not showing the exact angle and location that I sunk the rod.) Having a heavy duty maul was the trick to driving this down. Now I'm ready for some solar panels.
