Expensive,,, oh yes,but I still love these lightbulbs for my 12 volt light system.They look just like an 80 watt incandescent but are actually 201 LED,s using only 13 watts of electric.They show no sign of ware or heat build up like flourescents do and cold temps don't bother them.LED lighting has come a long way in a very short period of time.

the great thing about them is no need to run a inverter , open the door and turn them on . I have four smaller ones but I would like to get one like yours to replace our 23 watt C F L over the kitchen table . Thanks for the link.

That bulb is neat. To bad it's made in China. Since they don't have the same safety regulations I would not use it.

Just ordered some smaller-lumen corn LED bulbs for my cabin's 4-light fixture. Will try upon receipt and see if I can remember to provide a report! I have one 12W/12V CF bulb in it at present, 3 or 4 will provide plenty-o-lumens and a little backup if one fails.
Might install reflective metal above fixture for extra light and safety.

Anyone in Ontario, there is a program , by hydro one,for farm and small business, currently going to replace incandescent lighting with led. Don't know if any board members qualify . Maybe also should have started a new thread. Up to 27 lamps qualify, There is no charge for this. Up to 1500.00. The led bulbs are17w-23w led a21 base med 100w equivalent. I have applied and await the changeover. House lighting does not qualify, workshops, barns, outbuildings do. If anyone wants info I can post it. Old243

sarndt,regarding Ontario led program. Qualifiers are small business and farms, a customer of hydro one, small business lighting.
up to 27 led bulbs provided and installed,to replace incandescent bulbs. They are a Phillips 17-23 watt a21 base (med).More than 300.00 and up to 1500.00 provided at no charge to you.
I qualified as a farm customer, I have been approved and await installation, by their approved electrician.

Purchased some cheaper 12v LED bulbs off Ebay:

Per specs, 3 of these should ~ 1-15W compact fluorescent lumens. I think these came up a bit short on lumens, so I'll be adding a 4th LED. These LED bulbs each draw .2 A at 12 volts (per my meter), or 2.4 watts versus rated 3.8W (which probably explains less lumens). All in all, not too bad of a result for $3.50 each.
Note CF and LEDs are not same "color" light. (see attached)
I ordered 4 LED bulbs originally, but only 3 would light. After careful inspection, noticed a sticker stating "110 V". It worked when plugged into higher voltage, and the seller is sending me a replacement 12v bulb.
I'll be upgrading my "reflector" over the fixture. The white cardboard will be replaced by aluminum flashing. It'll reflect more and provide more safety should a Chinese LED bulb catch fire...
I ordered a few more with candelabra base for another cabin fixture. Should be plenty of light for a 14' x 24'.
