For the last few months, I've been hearing that the Obama administration is going to impose tarriffs on imported solar panels so that American manufacuturers can compete "more fairly" in the alt.energy/solar market. This is pretty much going to happen - but my concern is WHEN the increases will happen.
I have a small system built from panels I purchased from ebay over the last year or so. The price is affordable for someone on a budget like me - and they're made in China.
I'd like to add another 200 watts, but it's not in my budget right now. I'd rather wait a few more months until I can afford this purchase, but if the price is going to shoot up, then I need to bite the bullet and buy now. I just checked ebay prices, and the panels seem to cost LESS right now than what I paid for them in the past year - WTF?
I don't want to stir up any debates about politics or Chinese vs. American products - I just want to make a smart purchase in the near future. If anyone has any information about this tarriff/price increase - and perhaps a timeframe - please let me know.
Thanks!
