I recently sold my one year old Toshiba laptop after I tried a new Compaq CQ57 Notebook PC, though it is a bit smaller (down from 17 inches to 15.6) unless someone told you you simply would not know the difference when using.
Though the Toshiba had a so so ECO power saving feature, it would still run at 22 watts with dismal performance, the Compaq I found runs best in high performance mode and with a minor tweak to the CPU fan (turned it on to use thermostatic control rather than always on) power use with excellent performance is using only 10 watts at only $278.00!
Reducing energy use and upping performance is what it is all about for me!
