Got one of these ammeters, available anywhere cheap. No instructions, but I figured you just pass the wire through it. No other terminals. So I passed the 110ac power wire to my ceiling fan through it, flipped on the inverter and fan, nothing, no light, no reading.
Anyone else play with one?

Thanks. Yeah I found those terminals under the back cover. Got it to read volts and hz, no amps yet..I ran one fan wire through but it still read 0

Wonder if it only works with the current flowing a certain direction through it.

AC shouldn't matter. Either wire should work as long as the sensor doesn't have broken wires!

Did you try it on DC? AC and DC amp meters arnt the same.

I have something similar to monitor my AC Voltage coming from my inverter before going into a Subpanel.
1) The black wire is what you want to have passing through it, not both.
2) Some of the Hall Sensors are directional, there should be an arrow or indicator on the Hall Sensor if it is. I don't think it's a huge deal on AC but with DC it is.
3) I use a zippy tie to hold the wire in place and "snug" to the Hall Sensor.
I've gone through a couple of different ones and finally settled on using the PeaceFair brand products (they are the OEM for many) which are pretty consistent & reliable. I'm now using the PeaceFair PZEM-011 as my AC monitor because it also logs a few details.

Ok, here is the dog clippers hooked to the inverter, one wire passing through the sensor, clippers running. Again volts, hz, no amps.
No direction arrow on the sensor (part no 0-100A stamped). Meter is AD112-22FVAH.

Looks like it's pooched. I would imagine you flipped the sensor just in case and if you got nothing it's likely defective. These are as simple as can be.

before you throw it out, try something that draws more amps. Maybe its just not registering on that small draw stuff

Good thought FH. I tried it with the toaster, around 1000w on the inverter. Still 0.

On another note, also found this while cleaning out my electrical junk box. If there was a sticker on back it’s long gone. So what is it?

Found it online! it's an oscilloscope. At some time I was concerned about sine waves. When and why is long gone from my faded memory. Yours if you want it. I'll throw in that ammeter..

Is this a DROK meter in green? It’s been showing some goofy readings lately, like this. Six this morning, no solar yet, and a 29 amp charge. I wish! The charge controller display is more like it, 0.
Oddly, it seems to be accurate when actual charging, either by sun or genny. I want to buy a new one, just can’t remember who makes it.
