Havent been here in a bit over 2 months as the mosquitos, deer flys, bighting gnats and black flys own my property in the summer. Anyone else have issues with "nature" chewing there propane fittings? Surprisingly it didnt leak. It's to my iheat water heater. Not that it really mattered that it didnt leak because I prob only had 20gal of water and 200gal when I left 2 months ago.

Maybe I've been lucky but I have never (Knock on wood) had hoses or wires chewed on by varmints. Except for one time that a new pup chewed a water supply line under the utility sink in the mudroom. We had water spraying all over and running out under the door. Stainless steel braid covered hose too.

Wow that's some serious gnawing. No, never had anything like that.

We've had squirrels chew on the front steps and also chewed thru the legs on a plastic patio chair.

I've had a lot of pine squirrel damage over the years, but never that kind. Strange, wonder if that plastic was made with the newer soy based plastics.

Quite the 'bait' youve got there.
Hoses are often the first to get gnawed here by the nasty little red squirrels; was thinking about running my flex line through some old flex elec. conduit. Didnt think about the the other bits.
Might try wrapping some chicken wire around that stuff.

This piece I'm going to change to a soft nose POL fitting so wont have future issues.

I also found the smallest little hole in the fitting right off my water tote. This one I fixed with a new fitting and put a piece of stick on flashing membrane over it.

Many of you know, my house is covered in Live Edge Cedar and as such the Chipmunks "feel" it is a Big Tree. From their point of view I suppose it might as well be BUT the blighters like to find holes or make them to get in behind. I've also had some mouse issues as they seek to make nests in locations...

A Trick a fellow geezer down the road shared which works to stop'em chewing on a spot. I laughed at it but had to try and damn, it works.

1 Bottle of Tabasco (I used Durfy's hot sauce) and a couple of cloves of garlic, pop into a blender on puree and make it so you can spray it (spray bottle). Spray the solution onto the area they are chewing, one bite and they will RUN LIKE HELL ! I watched / saw a Chippy goto a hole she'd been chewing on to get behind the siding and the moment she chomped on it, the Fur went STRAIGHT UP she started Chattering (screaming I'd say) and she ran off into the woods and I could hear the NATTER for a few minutes !

Maybe it was MEAN but I hafta say, it was SO HILLARIOUS to this day I laugh out loud everytime I think on it, it WAS priceless ! BTW: Chippies never came back to the hole, which I eventually plugged. I had the same result essentially with a hole Mice were chewing on, I did not see their reaction but they left it alone after I sprayed it, I'm sure they had a similar reaction as the chippy did.

I had a bear, no real damage except he pulled down my garbage bag from EZ Up, damaged a leg, Genuine EZ Up brand, you can get parts, so I fixed it and he chewed on the top of 2 of my pricey water jugs. My fault, no bear issue for years, got a little complacent, not all garbage and food stored inside my enclosed trailer or container and nothing edible is left outside, not even the BBQ grilles. Been doing that since, no more bear issues.

Had a run in with a woodpecker, knocked a hole in my siding, patched it, he was tapping in a few other spots. Hung those flashing spinning deals all around the eaves and gable ends and under the porch, he has never been back. Fixed one hole in corner trim.
