Hi all. Looking for recommendations for off grid propane cooking stove for new construction.

Found a few but hard to find exactly what I want. Curious what you’ve used and what do you like about it?

Right now we’re temporarily using a Coleman stove on the counter.
And electricity is solar 12v in cabin.

Here’s what I’m looking for:

Propane
No 110v electric hookup for ignition. AA Battery ignition or piezo. Ideally not have to manually light every time.

On counter. Stainless if possible. Cut in not possible.
Will run off 20lb tank outside of cabin and feed through wall.

Thanks in advance!

I'm still super happy with this. Piezo start. Use it almost every day, breakfast and dinner.

I use a Unique OffGrid LPG Cookstove "The Classic 24" uses a D Cell battery for the ignitor, works very very well. Comparable in quality & built to professional Series Caloric Cookstoves. https://uniqueappliances.com/product-category/cooking-appliances/battery-ignition-pro pane-ranges/

I dont believe unique makes a SS version.
I tried a camp chef oven with bad time to boil results. We ended up buying a 1950s stove. Its match light or pilot but just match lite it.

We have a CampChef oven that I use on the back deck

I don't have a problem with boiling water. I put on the coffee pot, visit the out house, and coffee is ready when I get back, lol. But I am in NC- a cold morning in winter might be 28 degrees so your times might be more

We have a CampChef

Way cool! I never knew this existed. This might be the ticket.

It says matchless ignition. How does the ignition work??

My vote would be for the camp chef. 👍
The ignition is a click type piezo. I actually repurposed an old entertainment center into a kitchenette out in my shop. And we also use it outside for canning and big family get togethers.

I could never get our camp chef to work properly. It took 45min to come close to boil a pot of water. Mean while the oven worked normal and would get up to 400*. I tried a new 1lb bottle along with a 20lb tank adapter and still couldn't get it to work.

Ok. CEO doesn’t like the camp chef. Other ideas? I’m a little burned out looking for what I’m looking for. Can’t believe it’s that hard to find…

How big is your solar setup? How many watts does a normal propane stove take?

Hi Brett-I’m not sure I follow? Do you mean volts for ignition on a normal stove? If so they’re 110. Solar is 12v and I won’t be installing inverter…

After an *exhaustive* search. I think I’m going with this glass top stove. Checks most of the boxes I need but only 2 burners… which is probably enough.

XtremepowerUS Premium Propane Gas Range Stove Outdoor 2-Burner Cooktop Auto Ignition Grill Camping Stoves Station https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07T85X5PV/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_WWP7W0XMVYQNZSFWR60G ?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

I also found this koblenz stove but this is Match light and these had a TERRIBlLE reputation…

Koblenz PSK-400S 4-Burner Gas Stove, Silver https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08SHRQ3WT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_Q3CEKJ3XP50GAMAFVCFM ?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

It is nice to have a oven.

Is your cabin insured? You may want to find out if the stove needs to be UL or approved. Also typicaly commercial gas stoves use all manual controls for the oven.

It’s not a permanent stove.

We had a Camp Chef. I could not stand that thing. Could not turn it down low enough to simmer.
The oven was never the right temperature. It’s small. Burned stuff.
Buy a propane Unique 30”. It has a D battery for matchless ignition. There is a version that looks stainless on the front black on the sides. A power burner, two regular burners and a simmer burner.
I love that stove and I’ve baked a turkey, stews, squares and pies. No issues at all.
I bake when it’s cool out. The oven helps to keep the cabin at a nice temperature.

Well for what it’s worth I got the “xtremepowerusa” stove.

Fired it up and it Seems to be quite nice. The piezo ignition is really good. No button just press in and turn.

It ignites weird- there’s a jet that shoots propane fire into the burner from the front as opposed to an igniter AT THE BURNER… this seems weird to me but whatever- as long as that jet always shoots horizontal lol.

Boiled water very quickly and burners have good output.

Also seems well built for a clearly chinese stove. Happy so far in just testing it. I do wish the pot stand were bigger- but none of the other candidates had any bigger ones…

I have that same one too, that I replaced with the infrared, basically the same Chinese thing but with the infrared burners, which I much prefer. I still use the old one for outdoor cooking. Yeah the pot stands are the only negative, been meaning to improve on that somehow.

Update on the update. I set it up in the cabin and ran the hose though wall. I built a stand for the propane tank outside. It works perfect, looks great, and I’m really happy with it (aside from the pot stands being space too far). Small sample size so far but I’d recommended already. The piezo light is really good and boils FAST!
