Got about 6"-7" of snow yesterday and went to bed with a forecast of heavy snow for the night. Woke this morning with about 2' on the ground with a few drifts being deeper. Fired up the Tracker and dug out around the cabin. My wife shoveled a path to the generator shed and around the cabin to the back door.
We then took off to pack down the mile of road/trail down to the main FS road. Must have made 6 trips up and down with both the Geo Tracker and my wife on the snowmobile. She did great on the "Beast!" We prefer to just pack down a snowmobile/ tracked vehicle trail rather than try to plow the road. One thing it is VERY rocky and rutted so plowing would likely tear up the plow. Secondly it keeps folks out who shouldn't be up our way. We have two neighbors who come up in the winter but they snowmobile as well so no worries. They love that we keep a good packed trail.
Our main FS road may get plowed today but more than likely tomorrow. Several seasonal folks up for the holidays... they have figured out that they are here until the plow gets here!

Thanks! Yeah so far loving it.... as a one armed guy having a steering wheel and power steering is way easier to drive in the snow than my snowmobile.... Not as fun or as fast but easier! Oh, heat and an enclosed cab doesn't hurt either!

Nope.... I can shift and steer with my knee! It's right hand drive manuals that give me fits!

Snow can be a pain, but its still pretty, those winter scenes, fresh fallen snow. Heaven on earth right there. Toss another log on the fire.

Toyota... yep! We bought a new Blaze King catalytic stove late this fall, love it! Our little VC Aspen was just a bit undersized for the cabin plus wouldn't hold a fire all night. Got up this morning to clear skies and -5F but the cabin was 60F. Opened the stove and let'er rip to burn out any creosote... threw another log on the fire and sitting here enjoying a cup of coffee!
Going to break the snowshoes out this morning for a couple mile walk.... just gorgeous out, sunshine, fresh snow, crisp air!

So far not much snow here. Nice blue skies are typical when it is not snowing or raining.

We had 14" a 10 days ago. Most has melted but ice and snow are staying on the north sides. A little forecast for tonight then maybe some next weekend.

Thanks! With tracks it's a sweet rig in the snow! Doesn't go very fast, about 25-30 being tops. Last winter I had it out in 4' of powder. It did pretty well, never felt like it was going to stall or get stuck, except backing up hill. The rear tracks will dig in instead of staying on top.
It pushes a plow very well. I keep after it, sometimes plowing morning and evening. It will push a couple of feet no sweat. I'm only pushing a 6' blade and our snow is for the most part pretty dry.

Eastern slope of the southern Colorado Rockies, South San Juan's. We sit at 9,500'.... this is our permanent residence but we escape every winter for two-three months (Feb-Apr)to a place we keep in North Central AZ.
