Our home was built in the 1960s. The previous owners covered the existing terrazzo flooring with ceramic tile. Age and a bad installation job have taken its toll. The tile now cracks, crumbles, and breaks even though we have tried to manage it the right way.
What are our flooring options? I have no interest in restoring the terrazzo underneath. Anyway, I am trying to seek help from concrete flooring solutions. There are no kids or dogs to consider, so we only need something that's sturdy. I don't like carpeting either. Please help me sort through my flooring options.

I'm afraid the only way to solve it will be to pull all of the old flooring up till you get to the subfloor base. Once there you'll have to asses any structural issues, failures or weak spots, make repairs as needed. You may have to put a layer of plywood down on the subfloor before you can cover it.

One of the easiest floor solutions today is the manufactured interlocking planking which is fairly easy to work with and not overly expensive.
