I own property in Northern Pennsylvania. It had a cabin on the property that we had demolished last summer due to several problems including structural issues and black mold. The weather has been less than cooperative for the past year and its safe to say the whole area is soupy. I purchased plans for a 16x36 cabin. My question is what type of foundation is recommended? The ground is sloped. The plans show posts around the perimeter of the decking, but wouldn't pier and beams be better? Cabin_demo15.jpg

Have you had the soil tested? Perhaps a helical screw pile foundation would work.

That sounds a little like piers? Can you post a photo? How is the floor mounted to the posts? If the plans are online maybe post a link to it?

I would be putting that thing above grade to not repeat the mold problem. Then I would spray foam with closed cell, the floor to make sure no water vapors migrate up.
I did that with my cabin, and it made a noticeable difference in the spring when the ground is wet to prevent the moisture from getting into the cabin.

Icc I'm trying to convert a PDF so you can see, but basically picture a 16x36 floor with 16 6x6 posts around the inside perimeter.

16x36 with the roof ridge running down the 36 ft length, right?
How many posts on the 36 ft sides, including the one at each corner?
I assume the floor joists run in the 16 ft direction. Is there a center beam or support running down the 36-foot direction? What size are the joists? 2x??
