The cabin build is taking forever since I only have weekends to work on it and it's 4.5hrs away.. BUT, we finally got the ceiling finished up. It's 100+ year old tin recovered from the barn roof of a centennial farm, ridge cap back lit with led lights, light pockets on each side of the fan are faux stained glass (hard to get good pictures of them), 68" ceiling fan, trimmed out in weathered rough cut oak.. It might not be everyones taste but we like it.

I like all the angles. Very tidy. And must be a de"light" to be under.

Thanks we first put the tin up and it seemed to dark for me, so one weekend when I was solo (because I knew the wife would have protested it), I pulled the cap back off and put the leds behind the cap and finally got the effect I wanted. At night it's a perfect glow without being over whelming... It's kind of like the sun is shining through a gap in the roof...

A couple things I learned:
1-Rough cut wood is a pain to work with because the dimensions are all over the place.
2-you better make good cuts (quadruple measurements) with old tin because you can't just run to the store for replacement material.

Ha! I'm not the only one who has projects that need to be done when I am at the cabin by myself.

Very cool idea with the lights. It's amazing what us wood butchers can do with a little patience and elbow grease. Well done!
