I was wondering if anyone has used a stacked 2x4 wall.
I have seen a few people do it online.
Any reasons not to do this?

First of all, a 2x4 stacked wall seems like a waste of resources. That alone seems like a good idea to not do that.
Then there is the insulation value; softwood like a normal 2x4 has an R-value around 4.2 to 4.5.

Summer use only, and it's tiny.
It's being build on a island, on top of a hill.... so carrying up 2x4sand getting them across the water on a boat seems easier than plywood.
Just keep the stacked wood as in inside finish. So no need for t&g on the inside.
With no ply and no inside wood finish, how much more stuff is it I wonder.

a small structure 8 foot square and 8 foot high walls = 256 - 8 ft 2x4. today's price on one of those is $3.62. That's about $925 plus a whole bunch of nails.
Stick framed is about 10 sticks per wall; 40 x 3.62 = about $145. Summer only, nothing fancy, sheath the exterior with T1-11; 8 sheets @ $35 = $280. That's about $425. Still no roof, no door, windows. All that would be the same.
I still say it is a terrible waste of materials, first and foremost.

Wonder if you could cut the 4x8 sheet goods in half to make transporting easier.

I've built two cabins up on a small hill on my island and I'm starting on my third. I stick-framed them and used 5/8" ply for roof sheathing and 1/2" ply for wall sheathing. Yeah, it was a bit heavy but with a plywood carrying tool it was bearable. The 3/4" ply I used for a climbing wall was very heavy but still manageable. I couldn't imagine carrying so many 2x4s to stack them. Just my $0.02.
Here's my project if you're interested: http://www.small-cabin.com/forum/6_6763_0.html

I strongly recommend not cutting down the panels as that reduces the rigidity they give the structure.
