Hi. Is leveling as shown on the pictures acceptable? Seen a lot of people do that but just though I'd get some opinions here as well. I'd of course treat the wood ends, align and glue them together with wood glue and pretty up the ruberoid pieces as well.

Update: It'll actually just be a single row of wood blocks and the layers of ruberoid is reduced to just a handful as well.

Update 2: And using a single 2x8 board would probably make much more sense than five 2x4s?

I've seen large cedar shims like a door shim pak, just lots bigger slid together. But I bet the rubber stuff never rots. I too, have seen that done many times.
