Is Elmers white glue really waterproof as advertised? I put a dried stiff brush I'd been using for it in water, now it's soft again. Better outdoor glue?

I think some white glues might be water resistant. What you need depends where what you are gluing will be used. I like type 2 Titebond for almost everything... light yellow glue color. TB has a type 3 that is waterproof once dry. For furniture that is kept indoors liquid hide glue is nice as it can be removed, loosened, if a repair is ever needed. Hot water or steam loosens joints ... great on table or chair legs.

Thanks ICC. Read the Tightbond website, ANSI standards etc. Going to get some today. This will be outdoor year round, going with the #3.

I have used PL3 lumber lock, it is what carpenters use , between floor joist and subfloor . Strong and no squeaks. Depending what you are doing , it would work. I use it to glue bee boxes , together. They are outside for many years. It is hard to remove , if you get it on hands, or where you get it, where you don't want it. It is stronger than the wood. old243
