Wondering if anyone has any thoughts on Pier Foundations vs Insulated Slab on Grade for a 1200 Sq Ft Cabin in Maine in the Bangor area. I spoke with a builder in that region who said there are a lot of homes going up using radiant heat slabs in Maine.

Part time use or full time use? A radiant slab works best when the building is heated continuously.
That aside, the slab foundation is better, more durable than piers. Not to mention piers don't meet existing building codes unless designed by an engineer.

Make sure the perimeter footings are well below the frost level.
I wonder whether frost heave ever breaks the thin center of slabs in cold country, if allowed to freeze. Don't know.
