the 8'x4"x3" round, flat on the top and bottom, treated with Copper Azole. Question is, can i use this as "logs" for building a small cabin. Interior walls will have polyurethane and stain, or even sheet rock.

so, from what i can ascertain from reading, landscape timbers treated with MCA are not that toxic...So I'm assuming that i can use it for my cabin. I think I will stain and polyurethane outside and inside. If I am reading into this wrong, someone please chime in, and thank you for the info...

Grizzly, I think the reason why you are getting no responses is what you are thinking may be risky. Building an entire cabin out of possible toxic materials may not be worth the risk.

Just how toxic is it?
Wood timbers have a very poor R-Value. Maybe you could think of another approach that would be safer.

I've read up on it before and I believe that some people who've done this have been able to find suppliers of untreated landscape timbers.
It would probably take some googling to find such a supplier.
I watched a youtube video on a guy who built a small cabin with the landscape timbers.
As I recall, air gaps were an issue. You could see seams of daylight from inside his cabin
If you could find a source of the untreated timbers, it would be a dirt cheap method for sure

I used them on my cabin, would have preferred untreated. From what I understand, they are safer now. I'm no expert but my opinion on painting them is to let the cabin dry out for a couple of years, otherwise the moisture bleeds thru.........

for what i could build a 12 x 12 cabin out of, with landscape timbers, i could get it under roof for less than 1200 not including roofing metal...with dimensional lumber the cost would double...atm it would be a weekend getaway, not an everyday home... btw i cant find untreated landscape timbers in my area...

for something that small, couldn't you do something pole barn style with treated 4x4's?
Seems like that would be cheaper and quicker than a pallet of landscape timbers

at home depot in TN i can get untreated 4x4's for like 8 bucks, and you can pick the straight ones, ive never gotten a straight landscape timber.
