We are building another cabin on our family property 9th to be specific, but my first to build as it will be mine to live in.
The foot print will be 28x16. Foundation is planned to be made from all pt 2x8x8 and 2x8x16. Joist will be on 24 center with a 4x4 support and there will be a span of 8 feet to the next support. I have planned for 45 supports. I have checked the max span of the 2x8 and it said I could go 10 foot but backed it off to 8. Does it sound like I have a suitable foundation for a single story with some attic storage or do I need to add more supports to the foundation or bump to 2x10s.
Will be uploading a pic of the drawings for the foundation shortly.

4x4 piers yes. Set 3-4 feet in the ground.

Your profile indicates Texas... what part? What frost depth? In many parts of TX you could roto till and shovel out a trench for a proper full perimeter concrete footing with less effort. Then pour a short wall or build a wall with concrete blocks.

It would be in the pan handle. The frost depth is 4-6 inches so I am well bellow that. I'm not sure a foundation like that would be cost effective in our area and spence we get fast running water in the area I'm worried with water erosion but I could be wrong.

No matter what foundation you have, running water should be kept away from it; diverted.
With a 4 to 6 inch frost depth all you need is a 12" deep trench; easy to do with a tiller and a square nose shovel. Pour the footing in that. Twelve inches wide x 8 inches thick, rebar down the center (4" from top or bottom of thickness). Build a short block wall on that to give a crawl space. You can "cast in place" a pocket to accept a central beam so you can minimize floor joist size or use 2x12 for a free span joist; 16" OC.
Just my thoughts. It would also be a superior foundation to anything done with piers.

Well we sat down and redid the floor plan from 28x16 to 20X16. The cost of the building is only 300 less but the down stairs will heat up faster in the winter and I also went for a 2x4 wall to a 2x6 wall for more insulation.
