Any fellow canadians or better yet ontarians that have build a home with shipping containers? Im curious as to how much the permitting and such will cost?
I am a cwb certified welder and my two best friends are a plumber and an electrician. I want to build a large house out of 4 or 6 40 foot containers. Somewhere in northern ontario near a lake.
Anyone that has tips or advice im all ears.

We are also looking at the possibility of building container cabins for a small business. Im guessing that theres a few people doing this already but is it still worthwhile

See if you can find the post (not here) on the internet from the guy in Oklahoma, two red 40's. He is a welder also, did a nice job. Some aspects: used closed cell spray foam for insulation, on 2x4 walls inside, outside and between, welded strips and painted at all between points, may have welded doors shut, he cut in his own doorway, half buried (sloped) the 40's to gain earth insulation. Most shipping container flooring is very poisonous. DO NOT SAND. Replace or seal.

tork. I've got some property if you want a place to test yer skills. Looking to do some rental cabins. 4 hrs east of t.o.
There's a guy outta mtl that ships and drops the containers I've talked to. And a feller in Ottawa approached me. He's done a LOT of research (even took a course) but hasn't built yet.
see my profile to contact.
