I plan to apply an oil based wood stain/treatment to my logs. Should this be done before or after chinking (or does it matter)?

It only matters if you care about aesthetics. If you do a google search, you should find a product for chinking that matches the color of your stain.

Thanks Vince The stain I'm planning to use is ....well.....ugly. But it was free! So I think I will go ahead and stain the logs as soon as they are dried out from all the rain we've been getting the past few weeks. Thanks again fo the reply.
